Shanya and Trouble came to us together on 15 February 2002, when their previous owner retired them from breeding.

Shanya had lovely colouring, good type and very soft fur, but a scar from a fight when she was a kitten meant she couldn't be shown in the varieties class. She was very confident and curious, and not only did well in the pet class but was very good at agility too - nothing made her nervous or shy! She was rather dominant with other rats, and was certainly boss in her cage - refusing to allow any other does to move in with her and Trouble, but she was always very sweet with us. We are not sure what she died from - in the morning she was fine and demanding attention as always, but by the afternoon we found that she had died, so whatever it was, it was quick.
