Rosie was an RSPCA rescue rat, that we brought home on 10 August 2002 with her cagemate Poppy. They were both very thin and shy, and although they soon put on weight, Rosie stayed fairly small. They were originally greyish all over from being kept on newspaper, and it was several days before their real colours started to show through. Rosie had thin rexy fur. She always was the more nervous of the two and never seemed to enjoy human company much, but she gradually gained confidence, particularly when Thomasina and Trouble were added to their cage. Rosie developed a mammary tumour, but her general health really wasn't good enough to have it removed as she was always underweight and slightly wheezy. We decided to have her put to sleep when it started to affect her movement and quality of life.
