About:
We decided Barbie needed a friend, so we visited our local RSPCA looking for a neutered male. Ande was the runt of an unwanted litter of four, and about 8-9 months old when we got him in April 2004. He was very nervous and used to bite, but eventually settled in and both chinchillas made friends quite easily. He was tiny at only around 400g. Unfortunately he had no top teeth at the front, but he ate and seemed happy. He died in early 2008, possibly of a heart attack.

Cinnamon was found by my Mum on 20th April 2005, after being dumped in a wood in Norfolk. She was also known as Naughty Knickers as she was hard to catch! She lived with my Mum and her other guinea pigs until August 2007, but when the last of her cagemates died, she came to stay with me and my other guinea pigs, and settled in really well. The photo was taken just a couple of weeks before she died on 23 February 2008.

Billy

Billy

Male
About:
Billy's full name is Willard Smith (guess who he was named after!). He belongs to my sister and he is about four years old. He can say a few words and comes out to fly around the room every night. He is obsessed with feet, and tries to feed them!
Oakleigh

Caley
Species:
Guinea pig
Sex:
Female
About:
Caley is named after Caley's chocolate (local Norwich chocolate company). She's not very squeaky for a guinea pig. She lives with Oakleigh and is about 3 years old. She's very shiny so it's hard to get a good picture of her.
Gallagher
Name:
Gallagher

Gallagher was found at the Aquapark in Norwich. No-one claimed him so my sister offered him a home. He sang a lot, but often had feather cysts.
Bob
Name:
Bob
Species:
Banded golden hamster
Sex:
Male
About:
Bob was a pretty hamster, who never bit anybody but he did manage to escape a couple of times. He chewed up the carpet behind one of our wardrobes on one of his escape missions, and the other time we discovered him behind the washing machine. He lived a long life for a hamster, but sadly had to be put to sleep aged 2.
Jaspa
Name:
Jaspa

Chockie

Male
About:
This is a very sweet picture of Chockie, who had lovely soft fur. We used to brush him with a toothbrush to keep him neat and tidy.
Oscar
Name:
Oscar
Species:
Lop-eared rabbit
Sex:
Male
About:
We adopted Oscar after finding him being chased by a cat in our garden (in the middle of winter). He had a reputation for being a grumpy bunny when we first found him, but he soon learnt to trust us and became a very soppy rabbit. He was with us for just over four years, and he was fully grown when we found him so we don't really know how old he was. He coped with many house moves - East Yorkshire, Norfolk, Devon, Leicestershire and finally Staffordshire and he was a semi-houserabbit (when our landlords weren't about!).
Tetley
Name:
Tetley
Species:
Banded golden hamster
Sex:
Male
About:
Tetley was my 18th birthday present from my family. He was named after a mouse we rescued from the oven in a holiday cottage we were staying in (long story!). He lived to be about 2 years old.
Flash and Bubbles
Name:
Flash and Bubbles
Species:
Guinea pigs
Sex:
Female
About:
Flash (black and white) was my sister's guinea pig, and Bubbles (brown and white) was mine. They were very sweet and squeaked like mad as soon as we opened the back door - they always thought it was feeding time! Bubbles died of a suspected heart attack aged about four, but Flash lived a year or so longer.
Timmy
Name:
Timmy
Species:
Pink-eyed white hamster
Sex:
Male
About:
Timmy was my first rescued pet. His owner was frightened to handle him and fed him on nothing but cheese and sunflower seeds. He became very tame and lived to be about 2½, which I was impressed with after his unhealthy start.
Peppa
Name:
Peppa
Species:
Netherland dwarf x German Perlfee rabbit
Sex:
Female
About:
Peppa used to run round the garden and when she'd had enough she sat under the hutch waiting to be put back in. Peppa only lived for a few months longer than her sister Misty - she caught myxamatosis and was put to sleep before she showed many symptoms. I will always have my rabbits injected against it in the future!
Misty
Name:
Misty
Species:
Netherland dwarf x German Perlfee rabbit
Sex:
Female
About:
Misty was Peppa's sister, and she belonged to my sister. We used to take them both for walks on leads round the garden. Sadly Misty didn't live long. She died of coccidiosis when she was only about 10 months old. We were about to take her to the vet and she died while I was holding her.
Sherry

Sherry
Species:
Peach-coloured hamster
Sex:
Female

Sherry was my sister's hamster, but I like the photo so I've included her. I've got no idea what her colour is really called, but she was a pretty pinky peach colour with dark eyes.
Sparky
Name:
Sparky
Species:
Cream banded long-haired hamster
Sex:
Male
About:
Sparky was our second hamster and he was a typical "grumpy hamster". He used to bite sometimes, and we soon learnt not to bother him when his ears were flat on his head, before he'd woken up properly. He was brushed regularly with a toothbrush to keep his fur neat and tidy, and he lived to be about 2 years 9 months old.
Hazy
Name:
Hazy
Species:
Golden hamster
Sex:
Male
About:
Hazy was our first hamster. My sister and I had wanted a hamster after seeing the ones at school, and he was a bit of a surprise as we thought Mum and Dad were taking us swimming, but we went to a local petshop instead! He had lots of attention and was really friendly, and until I looked at this photo I'd forgotten how pretty he was. He lived to be 2 years 3 months old.
Bluey
Name:
Bluey
Species:
Budgie
Sex:
Female
About:
This picture of Bluey was taken when she was 10½ years old, and she lived another couple of years after. She originally came from my uncle's aviary. She never learnt to speak but had a go at copying the sounds of other birds. She was given her highly original name by me, when I was about 4.
